Players
- Seven players compete on the field at one time. This includes the goalie.
- A team may start a game with five players.
- The team may add players at any time before they leave the field following their first game.
- Players who arrive after game time that are not on the roster may not participate in that game.
- Players must be on the team's first game roster in order to participate
Substitutions
- Free substitutions may occur at any time during a live ball or dead ball.
- Subs may only take place at midfield on the teams' sideline.
- A sub for the goalie may only be accomplished with notification to the officials.
Time
- The game shall consist of two 15 minute halves, with a three minute half.
- Each team gets one time per half.
- Following a timeout, the ball will be put back into play by a throw-in (time-outs may only be called by a team in possession of a live ball, or by either team during a dead ball interval).
- At the end of regulation, penalty kicks will determine the outcome.
- At the end of PKs (5 per team), the game will be determined by sudden death.
Offside violation
- Offside violation does not exist at any time.
Touch line and throw in
- All balls that go out of bounds on the sideline will be put back into play by throw-ins
- A ball is out-of-bounds when the entire ball crosses the line either in the air or on the ground.
Start of play
- A coin toss decides which team kicks off to begin the game.
- After half time, the teams change end and the kick off team alternates.
Penalty kicks
- A direct free kick is taken at the penalty mark.
- All players except the player taking the kick and d the goalkeeper must stay outside the penalty area.
- No one besides the kicker and the goalie may play the ball until it has touched either the goalie or the post.
- The player taking the kick may not play the ball again until it has hit another player.
Goal
- A goal is scored when the whole of the ball has passed over the goal line, between the goal posts and under the crossbar.
Slide tackle
- Slide tackling will result in an instant ejection.
Goalkeeper
- The goalkeeper may not be charged.
- No one can run into or kick into the goalkeeper while going for the ball.
- It is the responsibility of the offensive player to be under control.
- A player committing a foul is subject to a three minute or more penalty depending on the severity of the foul.
Delay of game
- To delay the game by kicking or pushing the ball away from opponents or officials results in a penalty.
Free kick
- When a free kick is being taken, a player of the opposite team shall not approach within 10 yards of the ball until it is in play unless one is standing on ones own goal line, between the goal posts.
Direct Free Kicks
- Direct kicks may be kicked directly into the goal by the player taking the kick.
- Handling the ball, or handling by the goalkeeper outside of the penalty box will result in a direct kick.
*Acts resulting in a direct free kick, and possibly a penalty, include:
- Holding an opponent
- Pushing an opponent
- Striking or attempting to strike an opponent
- Jumping at an opponent
- Kicking or attempting to kick an opponent
- Tripping an opponent
- Using the knee on an opponent
- Charging an opponent violently or dangerously
- Charging the goalkeeper in the penalty area
Indirect Free Kicks
- Indirect kicks must contact a player other than the player taking the kick (including the goal) before it can score a goal.
- A player playing the ball a second time before it has been played by another player at the kickoff, free kicks, corner kicks, or goal kicks will result in indirect kicks.
Discipline
- Red card penalties will result in the immediate ejection of the player who committed the foul.
- Two yellow card penalties on the same player will result in a red card penalty.
- Two red cards on the same team will cause that team to forfeit the game.
- Four yellow card penalties on the same team will cause that team to forfeit the game.
- Any ejection player must leave the intramural facility within three minutes following the ejection.
- The offending player will be suspended for a minimum of one game following a conference with the intramural director.
- No suspension will begin until after the conference has taken place.
