- A team may start and play a game with as few as 5 players
- Players are allowed to check-in after play has begun until half-time.
Forfeits
- Game time is forfeit time, but there is a 10 minute grace period: each minute a team is late equals 1 point for the opposing team
- We need 2 Forfeit Fee checks made out to Belmont University for $10 before a team can play.
o 2 Forfeits = out of tournament
Play
- Each game will consist of two 20-minute halves of running time
- Each team will receive 1 (1 minute) timeout per half and a floating timeout to be used in either half
- A player may call timeout when
o He or she has possession of the disc
o After a goal has been scored before the disc has been put back into play
- If the score is tied at the end of regulation play, a three-minute sudden-death overtime period will be played until a winner is declared. For playoffs, the overtime sudden-death periods will continue until the first team to score wins.
- Teams can substitute:
o After a goal (before the throw-off)
o During halftime
o To replace an injured player
o Ejected players can’t be replaced
- There will be a coin toss before play begins to decide which team will receive or what end they would like to defend.

Throw-offs
- Each game and after each score play will resume with a throw-off.
- In a throw-off, the players on the throwing team can move anywhere in their defending end-zone, but may not cross the goal line until the disc is released. The players on the receiving team must begin in their own end-zone.
- The receiving team will signal to the throwing team they are ready with the raising of one player’s hand.
- As soon as the disc is released, all the players may move in any direction.
- No player on the throwing team may touch the disc in the air before a member of the receiving team touches it.
- If the disc hits the ground before touching any player of the receiving team, they get the disc where it landed.
- If the throw-off lands out of bounds the receiving team makes the choice of a re-throw or to take the disc at the point where it crossed the line.
Out of Bounds
- The perimeter lines are out of bounds
- The disc is out of bounds hen it first contacts an out of bounds area or contacts anything which is out of bounds
- When receiving the disc, the first point of contact with the ground must be completely inbounds. If any portion of the first point of contact is out of bounds, the player is considered to be out of bounds.
- If the player is in bounds at the point of the reception and is carried out of bounds by their momentum, the player is considered in bounds and is to carry the disc to the point where he or she went out of bounds to put the disc back into play.
- The disc must be brought back in bounds in order to be put into play.
The Thrower
- The thrower must establish a pivot foot and may not change that pivot foot until the throw is released.
- The thrower can pivot in any direction. However, once the marker has established a legal defensive position, the thrower may not pivot into him or her.
- If the thrower, without defensive interference drops the disc, it is considered an incomplete pass.
Defense
- Only one player may guard the thrower at any one time;
- There must be at least one disc's diameter between the upper bodies of the thrower and the defense at all times.
- Once the defense has established a set-guarding stance on the thrower, he or she may initiate the 10-second stall count. (The offense has 10 seconds to get rid of the disc.)
- The defense must count the stall count loud enough for the offense to hear.
- If the offense has not released the disc by the end of the count, it results in a turnover.
The Receiver
- After catching a pass, the receiver is only allowed the fewest number of steps required to come to a stop and establish a pivot foot.
Fouls
- Fouls are the result of physical contact between opposing players.
- The players will call their own fouls.
- Fouls result in a change of possession.
Positioning
- Picks are not allowed
- Players must play the disc not the opponent
