The Scarlett Leadership Institute presents two Entrepreneurship Workshops, taught by Dr. Jeff Cornwall (Director of the Entrepreneurship Center at Belmont University), in partnership with the Williamson County Office of Economic Development and sponsored by Tennessee Commerce Bank.

Business Worthy?: How To Uncover and Evaluate
Entrepreneurial Ideas
November 3rd, 10th, & 17th, 2009  -  4:30pm to 8:00pm

OVERVIEW
  • Week One: Examine a process for how one finds business ideas through creativity and trends in the marketplace
  • Week Two: Examine the process of understanding the difference between a real business opportunity versus a creative idea and understand how to measure through feasibility tools
  • Week Three: Test business ideas through presentations to business leaders, garnering feedback in a "Fast Paced Pitch" format.  Both business leaders and students participate in improvement of the pitch/business idea, with a final winner at the end of class.
Entrepreneurship Business Plan Boot Camp
February 11th, 19th, & March 4th, 2010  -  4:30pm to 8:00pm

OVERVIEW

  • Week One: Learn a process for Business Planning that has proved to be most effective in creating an "investor ready" business and develop a marketing plan
  • Week Two: Develop the operating and financing plans
  • Week Three: Explore how best to prepare the business plan for internal and external uses, including: developing the "pitch," securing bank loans, outside investment, and franchising proposals
