Curriculum & Courses

The MAcc program fulfills the State of Tennessee education mandates that require 150 hours of postsecondary coursework for candidates to qualify for the CPA examination.

The MAcc program requires 30 total hours of course work. Students must select between 14 and 18 hours from accounting courses. Three Massey MBA courses are also required: Leadership and Ethics, International Residency and The Entrepreneurial Challenge. Students select the remaining courses from the MBA catalog. Each student develops a plan of study with an advisor when admitted to the program.

Students select between seven and nine of the following accounting courses:

  • ACC 6350. International Accounting and Taxation.
  • ACC 6400. Accounting Information Systems.

  • ACC 6470. Healthcare Managerial Accounting.
  • ACC 6480. Corporate Financial and Managerial Accounting.
  • ACC 6500. External Auditing.
  • ACC 6560. Computer Security and Audit.
  • ACC 6600. Advanced Managerial Accounting.
  • ACC 6700. Advanced Business Law.
  • ACC 6810. Corporate Taxation.
  • ACC 6820. Partnership and S Corporation Taxation.
  • 6850. Tax Research.
  • ACC 6880. Tax Procedure and Policy.
  • ACC 6900. Accounting Internship.
  • ACC 6990. Independent Study.
