The M.B.A. is a non-thesis degree consisting of 34 hours, of which 24 are required core courses and 10 are elective courses that are chosen by the student. The M.B.A. program consists of the following set of components:
Pre-MBA Foundation Courses
The Massey M.B.A. curriculum is fast-paced and rigorous. It is assumed that all entering students possess a mastery of fundamental knowledge of business principles appropriate to the study of graduate business education. These knowledge areas are: accounting, economics, business statistics and calculus (or advanced math beyond algebra).
Completion of pre-M.B.A. foundation courses is NOT required for application and initial admission to The Massey Graduate School of Business; however, students must complete ALL of these courses prior to beginning M.B.A. courses. Generally, it may be assumed that students who have earned an undergraduate degree in business administration (B.B.A. or equivalent) possess a mastery of pre-M.B.A. skills and material. Waiver decisions are made by the M.B.A. Admissions Committee when they carefully examine each applicant’s prior coursework for deficiencies. Waivers will be determined by: 1) accreditation of the institution, 2) time since undergraduate coursework, and 3) grade in the course and course content. The Admissions Committee may require that applicants who have been out of school for a long period of time or have been working in non-business functions refresh their knowledge by completing a series of refresher courses offered in an MBA CD-ROM Series.
Pre-M.B.A. foundation course requirements may be satisfied in one of the following ways:

2. Passing equivalent courses with a grade of “C” or better at another regionally accredited university (all courses listed at the 1000-2000 level may be taken at a junior college or at another four year institution).
3. Passing the required courses on-line with a grade of “C” or better at any regionally accredited university.
Students will be granted full admission status and allowed to enter the program only after submitting official documentation (i.e., transcripts) of successful completion of the required pre-M.B.A. foundation courses.
M.B.A. Core Courses (24 hours)
Prior to starting the Professional MBA, all students must attend a new student orientation that introduces them to the program and a group of their peers; orientation content will emphasize teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and an introduction to the case method of learning.

M.B.A. Electives (10 hours)
Each student in the program is required to take 10 elective hours (5 courses) beyond the MBA core. Students may elect to follow a general M.B.A. track, selecting 10 hours of electives that are of interest or enhance their knowledge in more than one area. Alternatively, students may designate an area of specialization that provides a marketable documentation of concentrated academic work. Electives allow each student to “customize” their M.B.A. program of study. Current electives or emphases include Accounting, Entrepreneurship, General Business, Healthcare, Marketing and Music Business. With a combination of electives, students can select one of the following concentrations - Accounting, Business Negotiation, Business Negotiation and Mediation, Corporate Finance, Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management, Finance, General Business, Healthcare Management, Healthcare Management – Human Relations, Healthcare Management – Quality Improvement and Compliance, Investments, Marketing, Music Business and New Venture Creation.
Customized M.B.A. Program
The Massey M.B.A. program provides an opportunity for each student to customize the program to meet his/her needs. A student may complete the program in as little as 18 months or may take up to four years. Realizing that one size does not fit all, the Massey program provides the flexibility to complete the degree in the time most appropriate for the individual. In addition, the program provides students the opportunity to customize the courses to fit his/her needs, whether the need is to enhance current career skills and knowledge or to prepare for an entirely new career. The student selects a particular elective track or merely selects various courses across tracks. Students will meet with an advisor when entering the program to determine the most appropriate plan of study for the student's needs. As needs change, so does the program of study, if required.
