The M.S. with a major in Audio Engineering is an application-oriented scholarly curriculum designed for individuals seeking to advance their academic and practical study in the disciplines of audio engineering, acoustics, and sound production. The student attracted to this program is looking for an environment that fosters applied research and practice in studio or live music production, signal processing, systems development, and sound for broadcast, media, and motion pictures.

The M.S. with a major in Audio Engineering requires thirty-four (34) credit hours of study and is designed for completion in as few as five (5) consecutive semesters (summer inclusive). Nine (9) credit hours of study allow the student to focus a career specialty in either practitioner application proficiencies in the applied track or academic research proficiencies in the scholarship track. Both tracks require a culminating thesis, project, and oral examination.
