  • Woods Piano Concert Series: Alberto Reyes

    Alberto ReyesUruguayan Alberto Reyes has had an unusual career trajectory as first a classical pianist, then a United Nations translator and now again a classical pianist. Since retiring from the UN in 2007, he has returned to recording and performing internationally.

    As You Like ItForced into exile in the Forest of Arden, lovers Rosalind and Orlando become entangled in a beguiling game of love and mistaken identity. The traditional roles of romance, gender roles, nature and politics are confused in a play that reflects on how bewildering yet utterly pleasurable life can be.  A collaboration with Verge Theatre.

  • Encore Award Presentation and Concert: Alumnus Giacomo Fiore (2006)

    Giacomo FioreItalian guitarist Giacomo Fiore has presented eclectic programs to audiences across the U.S., Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, and Italy. He holds a Ph.D. from UC Santa Cruz and lectures on a range of historical and practical subjects at the San Francisco Conservatory, University of California Santa Cruz, and the University of San Francisco.

  • Faculty Concert Series: Carolyn Treybig and Alex Graham

    Carolyn Treybig and Alex GrahamCarolyn Treybig, flute, and Alex Graham, saxophone & flute perform pieces from Claude Bolling's soundtrack for the 1978 movie California Suites which showcases his unique classical-jazz fusion.

    Faculty guests on the suites are David McKay, piano, Paulo Oliveira, guitar, Craig Nelson, bass, and Chester Thompson, drums.

  • Artist Reception: Emily Stokes Tending Toward Grazing
    10-25-2018 | 4:30pm-6:00pm with Artist Talk at 5:00pm | Gallery 121 in the Leu Center for the Visual Arts

    Emily Stokes WorkEmily Stokes is an artist and educator living in rural northwest Iowa. She uses the language of symbols from her vast, agricultural surroundings to explore the political, religious, and demographic shifts that disrupt the comforts of stasis in rural America. The exhibition will include sculptural and two-dimensional prints that have been mounted onto shaped wood, as well as imagery that meshes acrylic painting with digital imaging.  The exhibit closes after the reception.

  • Belmont Camerata: Celebrating Cultural Character

    Belmont MansionEvery country has a distinctive character which is reflected in its culture, cuisine and music. This program offers a sample of cultural palettes of composers: Roussel from France, Shankar from India, Copland from the US and De Falla from Spain.
