Director

Katy Wilson, APRN, MSN, MBA

Katy is a long time participant in the Nashville health care arena, with more than 35 years of experience as a family nurse practitioner. In addition to her BSN and MSN degrees, she also graduated with an MBA from the Owen School at Vanderbilt University. Her experience ranges from developing urban clinics in underserved neighborhoods to a specialty focus in both Adolescent and Travel Medicine.

She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Tennessee and American Nurses Associations, the American College Health Association, the International Society of Travel Medicine, and the Middle Tennessee Advanced Practice Nurses Association. Her community involvement includes the International Business Council of the Chamber of Commerce, volunteer with the Belmont Mansion and the Edgehill Community, member of the Review Board for Career Advancement at Vanderbilt, and a board member of Sister Cities of Nashville, serving on the Mendoza, Argentina and fundraising committees.

As adjunct faculty for the Schools of Pharmacy and Nursing, she precepts nurse practitioner and pharmacy students and is the medical advisor for Belmont Study Abroad and the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad. Besides her interest in international travel, she is passionate about creative ways of providing excellent primary healthcare with an emphasis on cost-effectiveness and convenience.

Dr. Sally Burbank, MD, Physician

Dr. Sally Willard Burbank completed her medical school training at the University of Vermont college of Medicine in 1986 and her internship and residency at the University of Tennessee in Nashville at Baptist hospital in 1989.  She has practiced Internal Medicine in Nashville for over 25 years.  The married mother of a recent college graduate and college Senior, sally enjoys gardening, writing, reading, and bicycling.

Kathryn Mitchell, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC

Kathryn Dambrino Mitchell graduated from Belmont University with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and is an ANCC board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Kathryn has over 6 years of clinical experience working in orthopedics and trauma at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She also spent a year as a travel nurse in Melbourne, Australia. In her FNP role, she believes in providing high quality care to her patients using holistic and evidence-based methods.

While pursuing her doctorate, Kathryn researched the worsening U.S. opioid overdose death epidemic, published her work in international journals, and presented her research at several national and international healthcare conferences. Kathryn is a member of the American Nurses Association, Tennessee Nurses Association, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society.

Kathryn lives in the Hillsboro Village area with her husband Danny, who is a musician, and their little wolf puppy named Birdie. When she is not taking care of patients, Kathryn enjoys writing music, exploring Nashville’s food scene, drinking absurd amounts of coffee, and traveling anywhere/everywhere. 

Amy Lewis, APRN, FNP-BC

Amy Lewis has roots that run deep with Belmont. She graduated from the Belmont School of Nursing in 1998 with her BSN and returned to Belmont’s Family Nurse Practitioner program to obtain her Master’s in 2004.

Prior to joining Belmont Student Health Services in September 2016, Amy worked in public health, primary care, and urgent care. She also worked as an adjunct clinical instructor for Belmont’s School of Nursing.  For the last ten years, she has practiced in urgent care for Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Amy and her husband are both Nashville natives and have two daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, bicycling and traveling.

Carol Bowling, MSN, FNP-BC

Carol is an AANC board certified Family Nurse Practitioner whose extensive clinical background expands over 30 years. Working as a Registered Nurse she worked in critical care, home health, research, and management. Over the past 7 years working as a Family Nurse Practitioner she has worked in the retail setting providing minor acute care, and chronic care.

Prior to coming to Belmont Health Services in February of 2017, Carol managed the clinical operations and staff at the 16 Walgreens Healthcare Clinics in the Nashville region.

Carol is a member of the American Nurse Association, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and Sigma Theta Tau.  She lives in Kingston Springs, TN, with her husband and their two Corgis.  In her off time, she enjoys spending time with her two grown daughters, her son in-law, 2 granddaughters, and 1 grandson.

Registered Nurses

Julie Hawley, RN

Julie Hawley graduated from University of South Dakota with her ADN and worked at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on the pediatric floor unit and in the PICU for 19 years until her move to Nashville in 1998. She started work at Old Harding Pediatrics as a staff nurse until coming to Belmont in 2005.

Julie appreciates being able to take care of students and staff and strives to make a difference in their healthcare.

Julie lives in Brentwood, TN with her husband, Kevin, and has 4 children and 5 grand boys. She is involved in the Fabulous Friends for Africa which is a yearly fundraiser for meeting the needs of Africans. She also enjoys running and has a bucket list to run a half or full marathon in the 50 states.

Krystal Huesmann, BSN, RN

Krystal Huesmann graduated from Grace College of Nursing in 1987 with her ASN and The Ohio State University in 1991 with her BSN. Krystal has worked in student health since February 2005.

Prior to working in student health, Krystal has specialized training as a Travel Nurse and has worked as a nurse in various settings including family practice, home health care, managed care and pediatrics. She also has worked as a marketing representative and nurse manager.

Krystal is originally from Warsaw, Indiana and lives in Franklin with her husband, Matt, who is a media producer including music, photography, and video production. They have three children including a Belmont nursing student! Krystal enjoys entertaining, gardening, cooking, and being involved in her church and her children's schools, as well as Williamson County Young Life and iShine Ministries.

LuAnn Buchholz, RN

LuAnn is originally from Marion, KY, and moved to Memphis, TN, where she attended Memphis State University and graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing.  She then relocated to Denton, TX, with her new husband enjoying his travel benefits with American Airlines.

Prior to coming to Belmont Student Health, her clinical experience included Labor & Delivery, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Home Health, Primary Care, and Clinical Management.  She is a past President of the American Society of Plastic Surgical Nurses and is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Plastic Surgical Nurse Foundation.

Her hobbies include traveling just about anywhere, especially internationally; cooking; watching movies; and hiking.  Her most memorable trips to date have been Mission-oriented to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic.

For the past 25 years, LuAnn and her husband, Bob, have lived in Franklin. They have two grown children and one precious grand-dog, Cowie.

Gabriel Seals, Office Manager

Gabriel Seals holds a BA in English Literature from Tennessee Technological University and an MA in English from Belmont University. He is married to the sweetest Michigander he's ever met. A homegrown Tennesseean, he loves the mountains, the forest, and literature.
