Office 365 FAQ

Microsoft is upgrading our Exchange Online email system the weekend of July 13th.

IMPORTANT:  Though your inbox will NOT be accessible, you MUST login to the new portal before July 13th or YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO LOGIN AFTER THE UPGRADE without assistance.

Login to the NEW email portal with your current email address and password.

If you cannot login to the portal you will need to change your CURRENT email password.

If you change your password, be sure to also change the password on your smartphone or  iPad.

You will also need to close Outlook, logout of the Sign In App, then log back in to the Sign In App using your new password and reopen Outlook.

How do I setup Outlook 2007 or 2010 on my computer for the new email system?
These steps will only take a few minutes and will not interfere with your current Outlook settings.

  1. BEFORE JULY 13th Login to the NEW email portal with your current email address and password at:
  2. Click "Downloads" under Resources on the right side of the page.
  3. Click the "Set up" button.
  4. Sign in to the desktop setup window that opens with your current email address and password.  This will check for updates needed and install them on your computer.
  5. Click "Continue",  (If asked, close Outlook, and wait a few moments for it to completely close).
    Click "I Accept",
    Click "Finish"

What needs to be done AFTER the transition on July 13th?

IF you use Outlook with the sign in app, you must sign back in with the sign in app one last time after the upgrade, or leave your machine signed in over the weekend. This applies updates to your computer. If you leave it signed in over the weekend, it will prompt you to restart Outlook.

What if I ONLY use the web to check my email?  Do I need to run the setup for Outlook?
No, but you do need to make sure your internet browser is up to date and that you can login at with your current email address and password.

What's different about the new email?

  • No sign in app required
  • Better browser support -Full support for Firefox, Chrome, Safari
  • Calendar view improved, can see shared calendars side by side in Outlook Web Access

Will I still be able to access my email online at

Will my email address change?

Will my email be down during the transition?
Email will not be down during the transition but access to your email may be down for a brief period (hour or less) once the change is completed by Microsoft.

AFTER July  13th you will have to change your server settings


DO NOT change before then or your phone will not be able to check email.

To change the “server” setting on iPhone or iPad to after the transition

  1. Click Settings
  2. Click Mail, Contacts and Calendars
  3. Click the Exchange Account
  4. Click Account
  5. Change the server to
  6. Click Done

If for some reason the above doesn't work, to remove the account and recreate it:

  1. Click Settings
  2. Scroll down and click Mail, Contacts and Calendars
  3. Click the Exchange Account
  4. Scroll down and click Delete Account
  5. Click Add Account
  6. Click Microsoft Exchange
  7. Under email type
  8. Leave Domain blank
  9. Username is
  10. Enter Password
  11. Click Next
  12. It should verify the account
  13. Enter the server
  14. Click Next
  15. Click Save
