Telecommunication Services
Telephones and Voicemail:
All Belmont Resident Halls and on-campus apartments have local telephone service included in the cost of the residence. Each residence hall room has one phone jack.
In the apartments, the number of phone jacks varies based on the number of rooms. Each apartment resident has his/her own telephone line in his/her bedroom as well as a multi-line phone provided for the living room so all roommates can receive calls there as well.
Belmont requires students to provide their own phones with the exception of multi-line phones for apartments. The campus now provides Caller ID service for phones equipped to display Caller ID. The phone number of on and off campus calls will now display the calling number.
Voicemail:
Every residential student has a personal voicemail box on request that can be accessed from anywhere on campus as well as from telephones outside of Belmont's network. Students can request a voicemail box by calling 460-6214 or email a request to telecom@belmont.edu.
The voicemail system acts as an answering machine with the added feature of recording any calls you receive while on the phone. (There is no call waiting available, so we recommend students check their voice mail frequently.) Voicemail also allows students to save messages, record extended absence greetings and leave messages in other voicemail boxes without dialing the number directly. Students can also bring an answering machine to campus . For detailed voicemail assistance select here.
