Ken Landers, M.M.E.
In the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and
Music Business, I teach the audio recording classes that cover
higher level recording, audio for video, and the unique challenge
of recording live concerts and broadcasts. I developed my expertise
through many years working in Nashville studios (with such artists
as Diamond Rio, Blackhawk, Michael McDonald, Brett James, Jaze, and
Rare Blend) and as the Chief Engineer for MCMR Mobile Recording,
working audio on albums, television, and web productions for such
diverse clients as the Disney Channel (NSync, Shawn Colvin, Tatiana
Ali), Fox Sports (WCA), TNN (Alan Jackson, Michelle Wright, Travis
Tritt, Ashley Cleveland, Pam Tillis, many others), and
countrycool.com (Duane Eddy, Chet Atkins, Willie Nelson, Marty
Stuart, Bonnie Bramlett, and John Fogarty). Some personal
highlights include working audio with the incomparable David Byrne,
the Memphis Horns, and Peter Frampton.
My live recordings and FOH work have taken me to international
destinations, including a short tour of East Africa with reggae
group Temple Yard. I am always eager to accept challenging
recording assignments and I have recorded in such differing places
as clubs from NYC to Nashville, a rural grocery store, Epcot
Center, various basements, and the historic Ryman Auditorium.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Belmont College, a
Master of Arts from Ohio University in music composition,
telecommunications audio, and film audio and I am currently
pursuing a doctorate at Middle Tennessee State University in
history. I am also an active playing member of the Clearview
Baptist Church praise band.
