Larry Wacholtz, Ph.D.
My interest in the music business came when I was lying on the
beach reading a book by Clive Davis. He had just signed Janis
Joplin and he seemed to have a very interesting job. I liked the
fact that his job entailed working around creative people and I was
intrigued by the possibility of working in the music industry and
helping these creative people to be successful. Throughout my
career, I have served as a Board Member for the National Academy of
Recording Arts and Science, President of Entertainment Media
Research, and President of Thumbs Up Publishing.
At Belmont, I teach Survey of the Music Business which is a comprehensive survey course. I have a passion to lay a solid foundation for students in this class. I also enjoy writing books and studying entrepreneurship opportunities with the internet. I truly believe that there are ways for artists to become financially successful by doing their own thing. In my spare time, I love to travel and spend time with my wife and children.
