Belmont's Montessori Teacher Certification Program in early childhood education (ages 2 ½ -6) offers a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree with an additional option to obtain Tennessee state licensure, Pre K through third grade or Montessori teacher training within the framework of earning college credit that can be applied toward an undergraduate Liberal Studies degree from Belmont through University College, Belmont's program for non-traditional adult students.
Belmont University's Montessori Teacher Education Program is MACTE (Montessori Accreditation Council of Teacher Education) accredited and AMS (American Montessori Society) affiliated. The program structure includes 4-week modules over 2 summers (4-week modules are divided into two, 2-week sessions each summer), a fall and spring weekend seminar, and a year-long internship (Monday seminar - real or virtual).
