Auditions for Entrance to Spring or Fall 2017

For Admission and Music Scholarship Consideration*

  • November 12, 2016
  • January 14, 2017
  • January 28, 2017
  • February 11, 2017

*Only applicants who audition for a major in the School of Music are considered for music scholarships.  School of Music scholarships are awarded in early March each year.

For Admission Only for Fall 2017

  • Saturday, March 18, 2017
    • Please Note: Musical Theatre auditions are NOT held on this date.  Students must audition in November, January, or February for the Musical Theatre program.

Audition Preparation

Prepare and bring with you to the audition the following:
  • Solo repertory list (solo music studied with a private teacher)
  • List of Student Music Activities
  • Any materials noted in your principal performing area audition requirements

 

    Prepare to take the Basic Musicianship Test by reviewing the following: 
    • Listening to a short melody and matching the pitches
    • Listening to a rhythm and clapping the same rhythm
    • Looking at musical notation on a staff and clapping the rhythm
    • Looking at the key signature and identifying the key
    • Looking at and naming musical notes on a staff
    • Looking at and singing musical notes on a staff

      • Bachelor of Arts in Music
      • Piano Pedagogy (piano students only)
