String Chamber Orchestra

Belmont Symphony Orchestra

String Chamber Orchestra, directed by Dr. Robert Gregg.

The Belmont String Chamber Orchestra is a university ensemble that studies excellent string literature and provides string players of all majors with an artistic opportunity to perform in a concert ensemble. The orchestra will study literature not typically performed by the Symphony Orchestra (e.g., Baroque and string orchestra music). As well, the ensemble serves as an outlet for vocal and instrumental music education majors to study a secondary instrument and provides a lab setting for conducting students.

Membership is open to all students regardless of major. Non-music majors are strongly encouraged to participate. Some university-owned instruments are available for use. A short part-placement audition will be held to determine seating in the ensemble. The String Chamber Orchestra meets in the fall and spring semesters on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:30-1:45 PM in Room 303 of Belmont Heights Baptist Church and performs between two and three concerts annually. The course (MUN 3991.03: String Chamber Orchestra) is available for one hour of credit.
