At approximately 4:30 a.m. this morning, Friday, September 11, 2009, a residential student reported an intruder inside an apartment at Bruin Hills. Belmont Campus Security, Metro Police and Residence Life staff responded. The intruder fled and remains at large. No one was injured and no personal items were taken in the incident.

 The preliminary investigation shows that the intruder gained access through an unlocked door.

 Campus Security is increasing patrols in the area and working with Metro Police to actively pursue all leads.

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION:

The suspect is described as a slender built, young adult male with a dark complexion.

REMEMBER:

  • Keep all exterior doors to residences locked.
  • Keep all windows to residences locked.
  • Keep window blinds down and closed after dark.

September 8, 2009 

Several laptops have been stolen from Hillside apartments between Thursday and Saturday evening. Suspects entered through unlocked doors and windows.

There has also been an increase in bicycle thefts. Stolen bicycles were not properly secured.

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION:

Black males between the ages of 13-15
One suspect is described as being heavy set.

REMEMBER:

  • Keep doors and windows to residences locked.
  • Do not leave valuables unattended
  • Do not leave valuables inside vehicles
  • Keep a record of valuables serial numbers
  • Usesecure bike locks on bicycles (such as u-locks)
  • Report suspicious activity immediately
