About Dr. Odom

Dr. Thompson has spent much of her professional life as a principal investigator of her own laboratory at Meharry Medical College. While there, she trained three PhDs, was instrumental in redesigning the curriculum for the Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences, taught in and directed several courses, and served as Director of Graduate Studies for the Cancer Biology Program. Dr. Thompson has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and many abstracts. She has served on review panels for National Institutes of Health F31 predoctoral fellowship applications, the California Breast Cancer Program, and Congressional Directed Medical Research Program for Breast Cancer. She has also served as an ad hoc reviewer for several journals. Dr. Thompson’s research investigates the regulation of breast cancer susceptibility gene 1 (BRCA1) localization and function. Dr. Thompson joined the faculty of BUSOP in January, 2009 as Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Thompson’s teaching responsibilities include Neuroscience in the Occupational Therapy curriculum and she will be teaching Pharmacodynamics in the PharmD curriculum.
