Why did you choose Belmont?
I was fortunate to be recruited as a student athlete. When I came on my recruiting visit, I immediately fell in love with the Belmont campus and the city of Nashville. I felt such a sense of hospitality, and right away it felt like home.
What are you involved in on campus?
Playing softball and being a full time student were the major areas of my involvement during my undergraduate years at Belmont. I continue to stay involved in Belmont activities by working in the athletic department as I pursue my graduate degree.
What’s been most beneficial to you as a student at Belmont?
Supportive professors, the athletic academic advising and the opportunity to obtain a double major to enhance my future professional options have been most beneficial. I am also grateful for the 4+1 program offered at Belmont, because I have been able to complete a master's degree in teaching that includes interning in the classroom for a full calendar year.
What has the relationship been like between you and your professors?
Amazing! The constant support and encouragement I receive from my professors has helped me achieve my dream. As a little girl, I always wanted to attend college on a softball scholarship and pursue a degree in teaching. I give much of the credit to my Belmont professors who helped make my dream a reality.
How has attending Belmont helped you?
In many ways Belmont has challenged me to reach my full potential. Mistakes are part of growing up and I have made my share of them. The small personal campus setting at Belmont University along with a caring staff provided me with the support and guidance to learn from my mistakes and move toward growth and maturity as I pursued a college education.
What are your plans after graduation?
I will graduate with an advanced degree in May of 2009 and hope to be teaching in my own classroom next fall. I would eventually like to head back to the East coast to be closer to my family. I can not wait to give my students the best of what Belmont has taught me as I pass on the gift of helping every child that crosses my path to reach his or her fullest potential.
