Why did you choose Belmont? I chose to come to Belmont University because after one visit to this campus, I could tell that this is where I was going to be the happiest and excel socially and academically. Belmont’s small, private school atmosphere drew me in, but the community and my interaction with current students and faculty got me to come back.
Why did you choose to be a Tour Guide? I chose to be a tour guide because I love being able to interact with new people every week, and hear different stories, and, in turn, share my story with them. The brief, but meaningful relationships built during campus tours are what make this job worth it.
What is your favorite on-campus event? My favorite event on campus is without a doubt “Highlight the Night!” Greek life and our student activities board put on this event every year, and everyone wears white or neon and has a big dance party in the Curb Event Center!
What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie, as of right now, is The Great Gatsby, only because it’s my life-long dream to be as classy as Gatsby is.
What is your favorite song & artist/band? My favorite song changes a lot, because I listen to a lot of different music, but one of my all-time favorites is Gravity by John Mayer.
What would you want to be your last meal on earth? My last meal on earth would NEED to be “pollo ranchero” from my favorite Mexican restaurant back home. It is rice, topped with chicken, all covered in cheese sauce…does it get any better?
What is your favorite Nashville experience? My favorite Nashville experience is definitely going to hockey games at the Bridgestone Arena downtown. I don’t necessarily keep up with hockey, but it’s just one of those sports that is fun to watch and when you’re at a game, the whole crowd is so hyped up the entire time! There is so much energy and I always have a great time when I go!
What is your dream career after graduating from Belmont? My dream career after graduation is to become a surgeon! It’s definitely a long time from now, but I have been dreaming of being a surgeon since middle school. I am so excited to have a job where I get to save lives every day and interact with people on such a personal level like that.
What is your favorite class that you have taken at Belmont and why? My favorite class was definitely ‘Understanding the Bible’, with Dr. Steven Reed. Taking that class with him afforded me the opportunity to learn more about God’s word, and about myself, not by sitting and reading from the bible and answering questions on a test, but through analyzing the passages and discussing the meaning behind the scripture.
If you could go back in time and give advice about college to 16-17 year old you, what would you say? I would tell myself not to be afraid to show people who I am. I have made so many friends here, and it’s because I opened up to people! When I first started, I was so scared to be myself because I had no idea who anyone else was, where they came from, or what was “normal” for them, and those were all things that worried me! But opening up and letting people see what kind of person I am, and showing off my specific qualities is what got me where I am at Belmont today, and I couldn’t be happier anywhere else.
