The Belmont Commons is a 30 townhouse complex housing 4 students per unit. The 120 residents of the Commons experience life as it will be off campus while still living under the auspices and direction of the Residence Life guidelines and staff. This off campus feel comes from the design of the apartments which each contain four private bedrooms, two and a half baths, a common living room, and a full kitchen. The Commons also has a unique feel because of its location three blocks off the main campus on Delmar Ave. Students living in the Commons are required to have a meal plan.Belmont Commons

The central courtyard design of the complex also allows the residents to connect with one another while maintaining autonomy in their respective apartments. The Commons clubhouse is a place to build community, have educational programming, and host resident’s band rehearsals. It also houses free laundry services with six washers and six dryers for use by Commons residents only.  The clubhouse is open 10am-10pm Monday - Saturday.

Commons features two gated parking lots on the east and west ends of the complex and a full parking lot across Delmar Ave. that has convenient access to the Commons pedestrian gate.

There are two different apartment designs in the Commons.  One design has two bedrooms downstairs joined by a bathroom while two bedrooms and a bathroom are upstairs.  The second design has all four bedrooms upstairs with each pair joined by a shared bathroom.  Each living space come furnished with a couch, a chair, a coffee table, an end table, and an entertainment unit.  The kitchen comes with a table and chairs, stove/oven, and refrigerator.  Each bedroom comes furnished with an extra long twin bed, chest of drawers, desk, and chair.

Belmont Commons has five Resident Assistants (RAs). The RAs are spread throughout the complex. RAs are available to provide peer guidance, develop community building activities and floor programs, and serve as a resource to students. RAs report to the Residence Director (RD). The RD is a full-time, live-in employee of Belmont University. The RD has a Bachelors degree, and in some cases, a Masters degree. The RD is responsible for the administrative details of the complex, including maintenance requests, discipline, supervising the RAs, and serving as a resource for students. The RD Office in the clubhouse and the RD apartment is to the left of the clubhouse.
