FAQ About Summer Housing

Do I have to take classes in order to sign up for summer housing?

No, you do not need to take classes or be working in order to sign-up for summer housing, but you must be enrolled in classes for the fall semester, unless you are graduating during the summer. During the summer terms you continue to be responsible for policies stated in The Bruin Guide and the Handbook to Residential Living, and the terms of the Summer Housing Agreement (on the reverse of this application). The judicial process remains in effect during summer terms.

When will I know my summer housing assignment?

The first round of housing assignments will be made after Housing Selection at the end of April. After that point assignments are made as applications are received.

What if my plans change and I need to cancel?

There is no penalty for cancelation up until June 2. After June 2, students may cancel but will be held to the terms of the summer occupancy agreement outlined in the summer application.

When may I move in for the summer?

Move in for Summer 1 will be on May 31.

Can I live in my upcoming fall assignment for the summer?

We will attempt to place as many students as possible in their permanent fall assignment for the summer. However, not all apartment facilities will be utilized for summer housing. Students assigned to fall spaces that are offline during the summer will be assigned a different space for summer housing.

In addition, when possible, we will attempt to assign temporary summer apartment residents around those residents in permanently assigned spaces for the fall. Factors used to determine summer assignments include maximizing the safety and security of a complex, scheduled summer maintenance and cleaning, maximizing community development, and minimizing the utility costs of summer housing. The Office of Residence Life reserves the right to make changes to summer housing assignments as needed.

Do you provide housing for Maymester?
