Geoff Von Dollen   (2000) Geoff was the first recipient of the Bill D. Bandy Scholarship fund.  Geoff was honored when awarded this, as Dr. Bandy was a mentor and role model for him.  Geoff has just accepted a position with the Athletics Department at The Citadel in South Carolina, as Associate Athletic Director for Business & Operations.  His responsibilities are financial oversight of the athletic budget, supervision of the business office, ticket office, facilities, sport supervision of tennis, management of all game day operations.  We are proud of you as you continue to honor Belmont University, the Sport Science Department and your mentor and friend, Bill Bandy. 

Sherry Tegarden Flecksteiner    (1999) considered among the greatest softball players in Belmont's history; distinguished as a pitcher and hitter.  She ranks first in career runs scored (128) and NCAA Division -I era pitching victories (11),  she ranks second in career hits (166), triples (15) and stolen bases (49).  Sherry ranks in the Top 4 all-time at Belmont in 13 categories, and was the steadying force in transitioning the Bruin program NAIA to NCAA Divison-I play.  She was inducted into the Belmont Hall of Fame on Friday, February 27, 2009.  Sherry was also an outstanding student and held to the highest standard of excellence in every aspect of her life.  Congratulations - well-deserved!

Brad Awalt  (1992) is Assistant Director of Health Plus - Vanderbilt University's faculty and staff wellness center.  In this capacity, one of his major responsibilities has been the coordination of the Go for the Gold Program, which is a component of Health Plus and is a comprehensive health promotion program designed with incentives and tools to help employees and their families lead healthier and more productive lives.  The program is a winner of a 2008 C. Everett Koop National Health Award.  This recognizes  community or government programs that improve health by reducing health risks and medical care costs.  Brad will be attending a Health Conference in New Orleans in September to receive the award on behalf of Health Plus and Vanderbilt.  Brad is the son of Dr. Mike Awalt, Professor of Philosophy at Belmont.  We are proud of Brad and this accomplishment!

Denise Farrell (1999 Exercise Science B.S. degree - 2007 Sport Administration MSA degree)  and is also a Certified Licensed Massage Therapist.  Previously Denise was Director of Operations of the Nashville Rhythm.  We are really excited that  Denise is teaching as an adjunct in our Sport Science department.  That is pretty much coming full circle.  Currently Denise is starting a non-profit company to provide activities for young people.  More specifics to come!!  Denise is on target!

Justin Hare (2008) is in med school on his way to being a top-notch physician.  Justin has been the recipient of multiple academic and athletic awards and honors.  He has set the standard high for the Sport Science Department and Belmont Athletics, as well.

Cal Cook(2000) Physical Education  (BS)  & (2002) Sport Administration (MSA)  is employed at Vanderbilt University as Director of Major Gifts - Athletic Development.  Cal is teaching Fundraising in College Athletics in our Sport Administration, serving on our SAM Advisory Council, and he and his wife greeted their son Cooper Calvert Cook on February 3, 2009.

David Moss(1999 Exercise Science Major) & soccer player is co-owner of 'Takes2Fitness' on West End Avenue, Nashville. David is married to Leah Primm, '00 grad and former basketball standout.

Keith May  1997 Exercise Science graduate.  Keith was awarded both our Outstanding Athletic Training Student and our Exercise Science Outstanding Major awards.  He became the first certified athletic trainer from our Belmont program.  Keith was a member of our first graduating class of Masters in Physical Therapy  in 2000 and then received his doctorate in 2001.  Presently he resides in Cumming, Georgia with his wife Ashley and sons Sawyer and Griffin.  He is employed as a site leader for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Sports Medicine Program.  Keith always sets the standard high.

Janelle Calhoun  (2005) Exercise Science graduate, is the Sports and Leagues Director, Gordon Jewish Community Center in Nashville.  She is in the process of building numerous sports programs and other opportunities for exercise and recreation for children ages 18 months to adults. 

Addie Willoughby (2003).  Addy and her family emigrated from Vientiane, Laos to Nashville in 1983.  She used this move as an incentive to transcend the language and cultural barriers and attacked everything as a possibility, rather than an obstacle.  With ten years of experience in business operations and project management, she and her business partner, Mike Hill, have formed Thrill of Entertainment, to provide quality entertainment that reaches all people and offers access to multi-media productions.  Currently in development are television, internet, radio, and print projects.  She is living in the heart of Manhattan - the 'Big Apple'.  Watch for Addie-she is up and coming!!
