The department offers two programs of study.
The first is the Bachelor of Fine Arts, an 85 credit hour professional degree designed for the student wanting to pursue a career as an entertainment professional. The BFA has four emphasis areas including Performance, Directing, Production Design, and Theatre Education. Entrance into the BFA program is by audition, check audition information for specific audition information.
The second is the Bachelor of Arts model, which requires that students be exposed to the cultural, socio-political, and historical knowledge that serves as the core of the theatrical tradition and current professional standards.
The Department of Theatre and Dance produces 7 main stage productions, two annual dance productions, a New Works Festival, and a variety of class final performances each year.
The Department of Theatre and Dance has supported and partnered with many of Nashville’s most important theatre and dance companies over the last two years. These companies include The Actors Bridge Ensemble, The Nashville Shakespeare Festival, The Nashville Ballet, Verge Theatre, Woven Theatre Company, The Sideshow Fringe Festival, Sense Theatre, Rejoice Ministries, Salama Ministries, and The Nashville Children’s Theatre.
