Fall Semester Start

Summer Orientation Schedule

Summer Orientation is a required experience packed with information, community connections, and check-the-task-off the list opportunities! At Summer Orientation, you will hear from key Belmont staff and faculty, meet other new Bruins, and register for courses.

All Summer Orientation sessions are 1-day sessions and consist of both a student track and a parent/guest track. Students will only be able to participate and register for fall courses on the summer orientation session they have registered to attend.

In order to accommodate the needs of all students, students can select to attend an on-campus or a virtual session.

A full Summer Orientation schedule will be posted in early May 2024. Please email orientation@belmont.edu with any questions you may have.

Summer Orientation FAQs

Summer Orientation check-in begins at 8:15 am with our first session kicking off at 9:30 am.  We suggest arriving at 8:40 am to be fully checked in before the first session. For guests, the day will end at 4:30 pm. Students will end their day at 8:30 pm. A full schedule of Summer Orientation events will be posted on May 1, 2024. Parents and students will receive a detailed schedule of all orientation events at Summer Orientation.

Summer Orientation check-in starts each day at 8:15 am with the first session starting at 9:30 am. To arrive on time, students and guests would either need to take an early flight or fly in the day before.

For guests, the orientation experience wraps up at 4:30 pm, allowing ample time to venture out and explore Nashville for dinner. Students will continue their orientation experience until 8:30 pm, with a lineup of student-only favorite events.

Considering the late end time for students, we advise that guests plan their departure for the following day after their Summer Orientation experience. To make the most of your trip, we recommend enjoying the Summer Orientation experience, and then dedicating a half-day to discover all Nashville has to offer before heading home.

Our virtual session is designed to bring the best of our orientation experience to students and guests virtually. During the week of your scheduled virtual orientation, the Office of New Student Orientation will provide a link to attendees to access all virtual orientation sessions.

Similar to our on-campus orientation events, the virtual session consists of presentations from key campus leaders, a course registration experience for students to register for their fall courses, and connection opportunities for students to meet other current and new Bruins.

A full virtual orientation schedule will be posted on May 1, 2024.

To help you prepare, students can explore the “How to Register for Courses” video on the orientation checklist. During Summer Orientation, each academic college will have a team of faculty, staff, and current students there to help walk you through the registration process. The course registration team partners with students to create an ideal schedule that meets all degree and Bell Core (general education) requirements. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible, ensuring you leave your Summer Orientation experience with your fall semester schedule.

For Summer Orientation, we suggest bringing:

  • Know/bring your Belmont ID (BUID)
  • Personal laptop for planning your schedule and registering for courses (optional)
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes (casual)
  • A sweater or extra layer to wear during indoor sessions.
  • Extra cash to purchase something at the Bruin Shop.

Parents and guests will participate in a unique and engaging concurrent orientation experience at Summer Orientation. You will hear from key campus leaders, learn more about assisting their students in the transition to Belmont, and make key connections to campus partners. For on-campus attendees, parents and guests will end their day at 4:30 pm. We recommend exploring one of the many great restaurants in Nashville before picking up your student back at Belmont at 8:30 pm.

We do not provide on campus housing for students or guests during Summer Orientation. Here is a link to learn more about hotels and accommodation near Belmont University.

We have one transfer-specific on-campus orientation session (June 10) and two transfer virtual orientation sessions (June 14 and June 21).

All transfer sessions include hearing from key campus partners, learning about transfer-specific resources, registering for fall courses, and connecting with other new Bruins and current students. Guests and parents of transfer

Your myBelmont account indicates the events that you are signed up for. You can make changes to your Orientation registration directly through your myBelmont account. During your on-campus summer orientation day, lunch is provided for students and guests. Dinner is provided for students. Guests are encouraged to explore one of Nashville’s fantastic restaurants for dinner.

All incoming students have an “advisor hold” that will be released after meeting with their academic advisor during Summer Orientation. Students will also have a Statement of Financial Responsibility Hold. To remove this hold, students will have to read and agree to the Statement of Financial Responsibility on their myBelmont account.

Any hold on your account will not affect your ability to register for Summer Orientation.

Students sign up for Towering Traditions Orientation through their myBelmont account. This is the same account Belmont students use to access important university information. Once students have submitted their enrollment deposit, they will receive an email containing specific instructions on how to register for Summer Orientation. This email will be sent to the email address provided on the student’s admission application. For students entering the Fall semester, orientation registration opens in January. For students entering in the Spring semester, Orientation registration opens in November.

YES! Summer Orientation is primarily an academic orientation session and Welcome Week is a celebration of your first week on campus! You can refer to the specific pages for information on programming within Summer Orientation and Welcome Week.

To maintain a quality experience for our new students, each session is limited. Registration is based on a first-come, first-registered system. Once a session has reached its capacity, the session will automatically close to new registrations.

If you are unable to register for your preferred session, please register for your next choice.  After registering for your next choice session, email orientation@belmont.edu and request to be put on the waitlist. In your email, please note your first and last name, your BUID number, your preferred orientation dates, and the reason for the accommodation. The waitlist is evaluated weekly starting May 1, 2024.
