Below is where we went in spring 2014:

immersion arts


Specifically for student-artists, an immersion into the life of urban artist, exploring the intersection of art, justice, faith and the city. By application only.

Location: Harrison Center for the Arts, Indianapolis, IN.

border

An immersion into an area pressured by unrelenting immigration issues.  Experience the border life in partnering with a ministry that works to help these people in the midst of unsafe and unsure outcomes.

Location: Border Servant Corps, El Paso, TX / Las Cruces, NM.

immersion community

An Immersion into expressions of authentic community: people sharing lives, pains, joys and service.  

Location: Mobile, AL.

immersion creation

A camping and service immersion into wilderness and nature settings; typically, we work on trail maintenance and invasive species removal during the day and relax around the campfire in the evening.  Some previous outdoors experience is preffered for these trips.

Location: Cumberland Island National Seashore, GA.

immersion healthcare

Assist with Pharmacy and Nursing students in delivering mobile medical assessment and care to migrant coffee plantation workers - in and near Antiguia, Guatemala.  Does not require any medical experience or training. This trip will include an immersion into the life and culture of Guatemala.

immersion justice

An immersion arranged around service, poverty and racial reconciliation, in the heart of the deep south and alongside one of the country's greatest living civil rights leaders, John Perkins.

Location: Spencer Perkins Center for Reconciliation. Jackson, MS.

immersion rural

A deep immersion into the lives of migrant farmworkers, in both community and labor settings.  Participants in this immersion stay in homes (with other students) of community members.  

Location: Hope Community Center, Apopka, FL.

immersion urban

Immersion.urban is a chance to experience both the struggles and hopefulness of urban life.  We work with diverse populations, exploring a variety of issues, as well as exposure to the particular conditions of living in urban environments.  Groups stay in the communities they serve.  

Location: Day House Catholic Worker, Detroit, MI.

Immersion.urban is a chance to experience both the struggles and hopefulness of urban life.  Includes working with diverse populations, exploring a variety of different issues, as well as exposure to the particular conditions of living in urban environments.  

Location: Metro Baptist Church, Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, NY City.
