As illustrated in her show reel, Diana has been active in the industry as a choreographer for many years working with directors such as Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott and Guy Ritchie. Recent work was seen in the sixth series of Downton Abbey, the last ever episode of which was broadcast on Christmas Day 2015 and the BBC TV adaptation of War and Peace. She has helped facilitate dance and movement for many leading A-list actors both in film and on television.
Choreography credits in the theatre include A Christmas Carol at the Rose Theatre, Kingston, Movement Consultant on A Chaste Maid In Cheapside for the Almeida and Movement Assistant on Women Beware Women for the RSC, as well as many public productions for LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) with directors such as Phillip Breen, Helena Kaut-Howson, Deborah Paige and Janet Suzman.
While the main thrust of her expertise encompasses period dance and movement, she also has a broad knowledge of European folk dance and music; in particular Russian, Polish and Hungarian (Court and gypsy).
In addition to choreography, Diana Scrivener is fully conversant with the musical aspect of the work and has had much experience of liaising closely with composers or musical advisers to facilitate the necessary marriage between dance and music in a production. Her innate musicality, together with her understanding of the theory of music (for example score-reading, musical form and structure), will ensure this process may be accomplished efficiently and economically.
She is internationally renowned for conducting workshops specialising in the history of western dancing and has given radio and television interviews to compliment her teaching, in addition to concert performances.
