Getting Started

Mental health support is NOT one size fits all. That's why we take a flexible care approach to clinical services. Our goal is to empower you to make the change you desire in the most efficient and supportive way possible!

Schedule an Appointment

Appointments are available via telehealth and in person. Self-schedule your initial appointment by going to the Health Portal accessed through MyBelmont or by contacting us at 615-460-6856 or counseling@belmont.edu. See below for instructions on scheduling your initial appointment.

Where to being

During this appointment, a provider will discuss your current situation and will assist you in creating an appropriate plan of care.

  1. Click Appointments in the top menu of Health Portal home page.
  2. Once on the Appointments page, select:
    - Student Counseling Services as the clinic you'd like to schedule with
    Telemental Health Initial Appointment as your appointment reason
    All as your provider option to guarantee the most immediate scheduling options and care. 
    *If All is not an option, please select a counselor to view what appointments they have available.
  3. Select the appointment time that works best for you. 

  1. Log into your Health Portal and scroll to the bottom of the home page.
  2. 15 minutes prior to your appointment, a blue Check In button will appear beside your scheduled appointment time (found under Upcoming Appointments on the Health Portal homepage). Please click the Check In button to be linked to your check-in forms. 
  3. If your appointment is virtual, return to the Health Portal homepage and click the yellow Telehealth button (which will have replaced the Check In button) beside your appointment to begin your consultation.

Counseling Services offers Well CORE programming on a variety of mental health topics throughout the year. You can find our offerings on our Bruin Link page.

Sometimes some self-help tools or encouragement from a peer is all you need to get you back on track.

Need a break from devices or just a moment of mindfulness and self-care? Come try Bird Watching with your peers. Binoculars and bird guides are provided. Well CORE credit offered.

Ready to dig in and set some goals? Short-term individual therapy may be for you. Follow the instructions above to schedule your consultation to discuss a plan of care with a BU clinician.
