Biography
James Cody holds a Master of Science in Audio Engineering from Belmont University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in Music Technology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a musician, producer, and educator specializing in electro-acoustic music composition, live performance, and track writing.
A multi-instrumentalist and music enthusiast, James has been passionate about music since childhood. As a guitarist, he has been performing for nearly two decades. During his undergraduate studies, he studied jazz guitar under Eric Essix and classical guitar under Yaniv Attar. He also had the honor of performing as a session guitarist on Dr. Henry Panion III’s arrangement and production of Stevie Wonder’s "Heaven Help Us All."
In 2014, James was awarded a media fellow position with UAB Digital Media, where he worked on a variety of documentary-style videos and digital advertising campaigns, fulfilling multiple production roles. He received a Silver ADDY Award from the American Advertising Federation in the music category for his original soundtrack, "Rise." An audiophile and gear enthusiast, James has contributed to Premier Guitar magazine, co-authoring and authoring featured articles on audio effects processors and amplifier plugins. A versatile composer, his original works have secured publishing deals in both the United States and Europe. His production, writing, and arranging interests have focused on rock, tension, uplifting/inspirational, indie rock, pop, cinematic, and electropop.
