Biography

Matthew Needler is the Director of Operations at the Center for Interprofessional Engagement & Simulation at Belmont University. In this role, he oversees the operations of the simulation center and the day-to-day activities, leading a dynamic team to enhance student learning experiences through high-fidelity simulations.

Matthew got his undergraduate degree in philosophy from Indiana University Indianapolis and his graduate degree in education from Indiana University Bloomington.

Matthew is a veteran, serving eight years as a combat medic (68W) for the Indiana Army Guard. Additionally, he has almost fifteen years of varied experience in healthcare, from dietary to working as a tech in physical therapy and wound care. Matt has worked in simulation for almost ten years and brings a wealth of experience to our team. He also is one of the first 100 simulationists worldwide to have both the Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) and Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certifications from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Matt is married to his wife, Jaicee, a special education teacher, and is father to three wonderful children which takes up most of his free time. His personal interests include a passion for punk music, an ever-present desire for more tattoos, and a love for the music of Willie Nelson.
