Belmont Student Leadership Awards Honor Community Builders Across Campus

April 11, 2024 | by Ryleigh Green

More than 50 students and organizations were recognized for their leadership on campus at the 2024 Belmont Student Leadership Awards (BSLA) through the Division for Student Formation Wednesday, April 10.

Representing a wide range of disciplines and interests, BSLA celebrated the contributions students made to the Belmont community.

The Belmont Student Leadership Awards is my favorite way to end the year," said Dr. Cady Tice, BSLA committee chair. "We are able to look back and celebrate our exceptional student leaders and their broad areas of impact while also looking forward to the bright futures they have ahead of them. Belmont presents so many different opportunities for students to engage in leadership development. I love that this evening always highlights our students' achievements in a truly inclusive, cross-departmental event.”

At Belmont, students have numerous opportunities to engage in leadership development. This year, more than 150 students were nominated for awards.

"At the BSLAs, we are celebrating everyone," added Associate Dean of Students, Leadership & Engagement Dr. AdriAnne Sternberg. "When students are engaged at Belmont, they are transformed by their experiences. Just when I think I’ve seen it all, another Belmont student does something remarkable."

Sophomore Biology major and Aspiring Leader Award winner Sydnee Floyd highlighted the the diverse set of leaders recognized at the event. “The Belmont Student Leadership Awards remind me of the beauty of the Belmont community," she said. "Every leader is different, inspiring in their own ways, and they are filled with so much hope."

Ten students were presented with the Bruin Award, the most prestigious award of the night. This achievement honors juniors and seniors who exemplify Belmont’s aspirational aims by consistently engaging in campus life and demonstrating outstanding service to the campus community through significant leadership participation.
