Christiane Buggs is a Nashville native and former Metro Nashville Public Schools student who went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in physics and two master’s degrees in education – from Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University respectively – before returning to MNPS as a teacher. She taught middle school math in both charter and zoned school settings before the latter of the two was “taken over by the state” of Tennessee. This ignited her journey into education policy and advocacy as she used these experiences to run for an elected local school board (MNPS) seat. She is currently in the middle of her second four-year term and eagerly shares her learnings with others.
