A Purpose-driven, Inspirational, and Innovative Strategic Leader, Karen Thompson currently serves as Assistant Vice President of Community Engagement at HCA Healthcare, where she led the launch of an enhanced community investment strategy, establishing a comprehensive program model aligning the company’s nationwide efforts. She led the design and launch of a $80M community impact fund to support innovative initiatives focused on addressing high-priority community needs and advancing health equity.
She is highly skilled at executing large-scale growth strategies, contributing over $2 billion in new growth initiatives, and implementing business models to optimize technology investments. Thompson has over 30 years of experience in executive roles at industry-leading companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, PwC, and Bank of America. She is committed to advancing initiatives that improve the quality of care and experience for vulnerable patients. She is passionate about the startups she advises in the US and Israel.
A lifelong learner, Thompson earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Bentley University and an MBA from Simmons University. Karen’s commitment to being a servant leader is evident in her decades of community board service, mentorship, and volunteerism. She is an advisory board member for the Jack C. Massey College of Business.
