Biography

Andrea Gemignani earned her B.A. with Honors from Swarthmore College.  She earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia, where she served on the Virginia Law Review and chaired the Public Service Law Conference.  She graduated Order of the Coif and received the Family Law Book Award.  After law school, Professor Gemignani practiced education law as a member of the Virginia bar.  Her work focused primarily on representing local public school boards on a variety of issues from special education and student discipline to Title IX compliance, student speech and employment. 

Prior to coming to Belmont College of Law, Professor Gemignani served as the Director of Advocacy for the Special Education Advocacy Center in Nashville, helping families advocate for the educational needs of their children with special needs. While at Belmont, Professor Gemignani has taught Disability Law, Family Law, Client Interviewing and Counseling, and Legal Information and Communication I & II.  She also works to support students completing the Bar Refresher course and preparing for the bar exam. As an Assistant Professor of Legal Practice and Director of Academic Success, Professor Gemignani will be teaching Legal Process, Legal Information and Communication I & II, and Bar Refresher.
