Biography

James Wigginton is an Instructor of commercial voice at Belmont University School of Music.

Mr. Wigginton received his Bachelor of Music (Performance) in voice and piano from Belmont University and is persuing his Master of Music in Media Composition and Arranging. He has also completed extensive vocal studies with Richard Miller (The Structure of Singing, etc.), Brett Manning (Singing Success), Seth Riggs (founder of Speech-level Singing, Singing for the Stars) and Greg Enriquez.

In addition to his teaching at Belmont, Mr. Wigginton continues to coach over 250 artists/vocalists in his Music Row and Springfield, MA studios. His coaching students have included nationally known commercial and classical vocal artists such as Luke Combs, Brian Kelley (Florida Georgia Line), Brett Eldgride, Keith Urban (Capitol), Jessica Andrews (Dreamworks), Marcel (Mercury), Trenna Barnes (Cowboy Crush: Asylum/Curb), Shannon Brown (Capitol), and Diane Stacio (San Francisco Lyric Opera). Mr. Wigginton's personal performance and/or recording credits include: solo artist; background singer (for Garth Brooks, Ray Stevens, Trisha Yearwood, Vince Gill, and Donna Summer); session singer (for WORD, and Brentwood Music); production and/or film (for Warner Bros., CMT, and New England Sensation); Concert and Solo Pianist; Live Theatre and Opera Performances (including Carousel, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma!, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Charlie's Aunt). Other producing and advising credits include working with Michael Garvin (wrote/produced 'Waiting for Tonight') and Joe Hogue (Grammy winner and Dove award winner).

Mr. Wigginton is well known across the US for his exceptional ability to quickly access and aid vocalists in all aspects of vocal performance and extending vocal range. Mr. Wigginton has completed over 50 international tours, presenting master classes, concerts, private lessons and recording studio coaching. He is regularly hired for commissioned works, choral and orchestral, and conducts the recording sessions. To further his students' understanding of vocal technique, Mr. Wigginton has written The Singers' Guide to Greatness and co-authored Singing Success with renowned vocal coach, Brett Manning. Mr. Wigginton is the creator of VocalEdge: The Virtual Vocal Training System for Professional Vocalists, published through Modern Music Masters (modernmusicmasters.com).  

Mr. Wigginton  directs and produces the top auditioned Pop/Rock ensemble, PHNX (Phoenix), and serves as host for Belmont University's three most prestigious shows, Christmas at Belmont, The Annual President’s Concert and Commercial Music Showcase. In the classroom, he teaches entrepreneur music business courses and performance seminars.
