Right Tool, Right Role: Structuring Human–AI Partnerships in Health Professions Education

The workshop focuses on the responsible integration of AI in health professions education by defining clear roles for humans and AI. Instead of asking what AI can do, participants will explore what AI should do, considering authority, trust, risk, and educational goals. Using the SCOPE framework, the session offers practical strategies for structuring human–AI partnerships in teaching, assessment, and simulation.

Attendees will see live demos of AI-enabled tools developed at the Center for Interprofessional Engagement and Simulation. The workshop is designed for educators, simulation leaders, and academic administrators seeking concrete strategies to move beyond ad hoc AI adoption toward deliberate, defensible, and educationally sound AI use.

AI & Data Integration for Cross-disciplinary Collaboration

This workshop offers instructors a structured framework for incorporating reflective, data‑driven assessment into collaborative studio and project‑based courses. It demonstrates how qualitative observations of team dynamics, collaboration, and individual contribution can be intentionally collected and transformed into meaningful visual insights over time.

The workshop emphasizes self‑awareness and reflection as essential pedagogical tools that complement both technical and creative instruction. Through interactive activities, faculty will explore strategies for helping learners identify patterns in leadership, communication, and decision‑making using visual analysis.

Participants will leave with practical ideas for integrating AI‑supported data analysis and visualization with metacognitive reflection in their own courses, supporting collaboration, adaptability, and student growth across disciplines.

Pedagogy First: Deciding When (and When Not) to Use AI in Teaching

AI is no longer a question of if—but of when and why. This interactive faculty workshop focuses on making thoughtful, pedagogically grounded decisions about AI use in the classroom. Participants will begin by brainstorming and examining key teaching moments—such as exploration, practice, repetition, feedback, and assessment—to identify where AI can meaningfully support learning outcomes and where it may undermine them.
