Biography
Ken Leonczyk is senior vice president of Enterprise Partnerships for Optum. He brings 20+ years of experience as a thought-leader and expert on the intersections of health care impacting providers, payers and patients.
Ken advises health care executives on strategy, growth and partnership opportunities, and is a frequent speaker and facilitator at board retreats and executive strategy sessions.
During his time as a leader at The Advisory Board Company and Optum Insight, Ken advised provider organizations on growth strategy, value-based care, diversifying revenue streams and performance management. Ken counseled health plan executives on business operations, Medicare Advantage growth, health equity and member experience. He also worked with Fortune-100 health care organizations on partnership and optimizing acquisition and joint-venture strategy.
Ken has been a keynote speaker at hundreds of large industry events, conferences, board meetings and professional gatherings and has been a featured legal and policy expert on national radio, television and print media. On average, Ken is involved in 6 to 10 health system board meetings and more than 30 health system executive leadership team meetings per year.
Ken previously worked as an attorney at Covington & Burling LLP and has experience in private practice and public service, both in the U.S. and internationally.In public service, he served as senior staff in the U.S. House of Representatives (Counsel to the Chair of the Financial Services Committee) and as an Episcopal priest and Canon in the U.S. and Bermuda.
Ken holds a JD from Yale Law School, a Master of Arts in Religion from Yale Divinity School, and a BA in English Literature from The University of the South: Sewanee.
He lives in Charlotte, NC, with his wife and two daughters. When not on the road working with clients, he enjoys hikes with his family, cycling, golfing poorly and trying to recreate recipes from The Great British Baking Show.
