Dr. Mahler is an experienced physician executive who is committed to improving quality, affordability, and personal choice in health services. Experienced in leadership roles in health plan, medical group, and hospital organizations, he has expertise in the healthcare delivery system. He focuses on value-based alignment of clinical and financial goals among stakeholders. He is skilled in clinical case, disease, utilization, and quality management, and in coordinating physical and behavioral services. His medical service has included:
- more than 25 years of medical leadership of Medicaid waiver, Medicare risk, and employer-sponsored health plans, including oversight of medical operations in 10 states and DC;
- leadership of utilization management in a tertiary hospital;
- start-up and leadership of a primary care medical group;
- full-time clinical practice in a multispecialty group;
- full-time academic position, followed by several clinical faculty appointments; and medical consulting to a wide range of organizations.
Dr. Mahler received his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earned his medical degree at the Ohio State University College of Medicine, completed his pediatrics residency at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center (Bronx), and earned a Master of Business Administration at Indiana University. Dr. Mahler is board certified in pediatrics.
