The health care capital of the world, Belmont’s location in Nashville offers distinct advantages to students launching their careers in pharmacy. More than 500 health care companies are located within the region that own and operate facilities at nearly 3,500 individual locations across the country, including Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), the largest health system in the United States. The industry employs 362,000 people and contributes $67 billion to the local economy. With such a concentration of industry executives and decision-makers, Nashville leads the way in innovative health care and allied health professions making it the perfect backdrop to receive a pharmacy education.
Boasting impressive first-time pass rates on the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE), Belmont's College of Pharmacy is quickly becoming a nationally recognized educational center for practice and leadership.
Within Belmont’s Health Care Corridor
The College of Pharmacy is housed along Belmont’s health care corridor on Wedgewood Avenue in McWhorter Hall. The 90,000-square-foot facility features more than 5,000 square feet of laboratory space, along with medical simulation and a licensed, state-of-the-art campus pharmacy where student pharmacists can learn every aspect of opening and running a retail pharmacy business.
In close proximity to the College of Health Sciences & Nursing and the future Frist College of Medicine, pharmacy students work with other health care disciplines including medicine, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social work and public health, learning the intricacies of team-based care delivery.
