Biography
Amy Bryson Smith is Chair and Associate Professor of Music Business in the Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business. Amy always dreamed of returning to serve as faculty at her alma mater, Belmont University. She now teaches undergraduate, as well as graduate music business courses.
For many years, Professor Smith has practiced corporate law in Nashville. She has represented a variety of individuals and companies in the music and entertainment business, as a litigator and transactional attorney, as well as a Rule 31 Mediator. Additionally, she served as General Counsel of a national Christian non-profit corporation. Dr. Smith continues to provide legal consultation to individuals and businesses, including non-profits. And, she serves on several boards.
During Dr. Smith’s professional career, she has written and filed numerous court filings in state and federal courts. Academically, she has been published in a variety of journals. She is a current member of Leadership Music Class of 2025, as well as an inaugural member of the Nashville Entertainment and IP Law Inn of Court, a part of the American Inns of Court.
Dr. Smith was born and raised in the Nashville and has a deep love of all that Nashville was, is and will be. Her husband, Jeffrey, also a graduate of Belmont, is an author and pastor at Donelson First. They have two wonderful daughters, both of whom currently attend Belmont. Amy loved her time as a student, and she absolutely loves being back at Belmont as an associate professor!
