Andrea Poynter

Biography

I am Second!  This is continually playing in my head especially when I care for patients, teach nursing students, or lead professional nurses because that drives my actions and behaviors in every role I perform. I have served as an Assistant Nursing Professor for the last eight years and also a staff nurse in Critical Care, Emergency Department, and Medical Surgical Units. 

My research interests are health behaviors of African American women, the role of spirituality in health care, and diversity in healthcare.  Lastly, I believe that we were created on purpose, for a purpose and I’ll continuously strive to make my mark on the world to make life better for as many as I can while I can.
