Biography
With over 25 years serving in education and 11 of those years in medical education, I’ve dedicated my career to supporting student success—especially in high-stakes, fast-paced environments like medical and health professions education. At the helm of Student Success Programs at FCOM, my focus is on nurturing the academic and professional journeys of our future medical and health science leaders. I’m passionate about creating intentional programming that equips learners with the information and tools they need to succeed in medical school and beyond. Mastery of evidence-based learning strategies, understanding how to approach the USMLE Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 Readiness, and supporting each student's unique path with holistic support is what grounds my approach to student success.
I have had the privilege of working in two regions - Western and Southern - and across public and private institutions, in both new and long-established medical schools. I am proud to serve as a non-MD in medical education, bringing the perspective of an educator with an EdD that underscores the value of diverse voices and experiences in shaping the future of medical education.
The Student Success Programs Team excels in creating robust support systems ranging from intentional learning workshops offered throughout the curriculum, creating learner profiles, individualized learning plans for course, Step 1, Clerkship/Shelf exam, and Step 2 success, as well as creating the inaugural Peer Academic Leader Program (PALs) for near-peer tutoring support. Our collective efforts are dedicated to shaping a healthcare landscape enriched with compassionate, skilled physicians who value whole-person healthcare and well-being for themselves and their patients.
