Biography

David Schreiber is an Associate Professor of Media & Entertainment Industries and Chair of the Media & Entertainment department at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Dr. Schreiber is an international scholar of the creative industries and has held a visiting scholar appointment at Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He has written textbooks on organizational behavior and innovation in the creative economy and has published on topics related to symbolic capital and its role in decision-making in the music industry and the use of sub-cultural capital in artist branding. Furthermore, David is a member of the Academy of Management (AOM), European Group of Organization Studies (EGOS) the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA), International Music Business Research Association; served as Associate Editor and served on the board of MEIEA for nearly a decade.

David received a Bachelor of Arts from University Wisconsin Stevens Point, but after working in the music industry for 7 years, he realized his true passion was found in teaching. He returned to University Miami for a Master of Music, and subsequently a Doctor of Philosophy from University of Westminster in London, England.

Prior to accepting his current position at Belmont University, Dr. Schreiber taught at Greenville College, Minnesota State Mankato and Albright College. He has worked in multiple areas of the music industry, including Regional Manager at Schmitt Music, Marketing and Business Development Manager for Shiny Penny Productions, in the licensing and royalty department of Miami Records, as Business Development Manager at Pivot Entertainment and managed artist Dean Fields.
