Biography

Dr. Denise Hreha has served as a dedicated elementary school teacher for the past 28 years in Howell, New Jersey. She has taught special education for 18 of those years. Having over a decade of experience successfully co-teaching in inclusive classrooms and teaching students with diverse learning needs, special education quickly came to be her passion. In 1996, Dr. Hreha earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Kean College. In 2001, she earned a Master of Arts in Special Education from Kean University, with a special concentration in Learning Disabilities. In 2007, she went on to earn a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University while continuing to teach elementary school and start a family.

Dr. Hreha began as an adjunct professor at Belmont University in the College of Education, and she is beyond excited to move to a Lecturer position, where she can continue her work guiding students on their journey to “Teach Brilliantly.” Her students at Belmont University have been such a great inspiration to her, and she is so excited for what’s to come!  

A New Jersey native, Dr. Hreha enjoys traveling with her beloved family which includes her husband, Michael and their three children, Chloe, Aidan and Ava. She is the author of a children’s book titled, The Wedding of Q and U. She loves the beach, coffee, autumn, Halloween and her adorable dog, Willow. Dr. Hreha teaches her own students by the adage, “Treat a child as though he already is the person he’s capable of becoming.”
