Biography
I joined the Belmont faculty part-time in the fall of 2010 and then full-time in the fall of 2011. I received a B.S. degree in Biochemistry from Tennessee Technological University in 2001. After completing my undergraduate degree, I went to Los Alamos National Laboratory in conjunction with Tennessee Technological University to perform my Master's research in Organic Synthesis, under the guidance of Dr. Pete Silks (LANL) and Dr. Jeffrey Boles (TTU). In 2004, I entered the Chemistry graduate program at the University of Cincinnati, where I received a Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry under the guidance of Dr. Suri S. Iyer, in 2008. Prior to my arrival at Belmont, I spent three years as an NIH post-doctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University under the direction of Dr. Ned A. Porter, in the Department of Chemistry.
Within the Department of Chemistry and Physics here at Belmont, I teach General Chemistry I&II, Organic Chemistry I&II, Medicinal Chemistry and Chemistry for non-majors. Outside of Belmont, I race sailboats both locally and nationally.
