Ivy Calvert is a coloratura soprano and Adjunct Instructor of Music Theory at Belmont University. She holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Kansas State University and an M.M. in Opera Performance from the University of British Columbia.
Known for her effortless upper register and sparkling stage presence, Ms. Calvert has performed in concerts and operas across the United States, Canada, Ireland, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Her artistic interests span opera, art song, and concert repertoire as well as innovative new works that reflect the evolving voice of classical music.
Favorite roles have included Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Monica in The Medium, Sophie in Werther, and Emily in Gillian Rae Perry’s new opera The Weight of Light. She has appeared professionally with The Atlanta Opera, Nashville Opera, Amarillo Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, Festival Napa Valley, and Intersection Music. As a concert soloist, she has been featured twice with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and with the Manhattan Kansas Masterworks Chorale.
A two-time national competition semi-finalist, Ms. Calvert was recognized by Partners for the Arts in 2025 and the Camille Coloratura Awards in 2019, and was a Fielder Grant recipient for voice in 2019.
