Biography

Dr. Jason Lee McKinney's academic journey is as diverse as his musical career. He holds a doctorate in Leadership and Professional Practice, a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor’s in Management and Human Relations, all from Trevecca Nazarene University. He also holds a Master of Philosophy and Apologetics from Lincoln Christian University. His Associate’s degree in Music Performance from Vincennes University further underscores his multidisciplinary approach.

Dr. McKinney has authored several notable works, including Deconstructing a Disciple’s Doubt, Devotions for Deconstructors, Disciples, and Doubters, and What is a Person in the Age of AI? His contributions to music are equally distinguished, having earned multiple Josie Music Awards, including Male R&B Vocalist of the Year in 2019 and R&B/Soul Entertainer of the Year in 2021 and 2022. He was also recognized by the Independent Country Music Association, receiving awards for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Americana Artist of the Year in 2014. McKinney’s albums have consistently ranked in the top 20 on the Roots Music Charts, with his last three releases achieving top 10 status.

With over 25 years of experience in the music industry, Dr. McKinney has also taught for over 13 years, instructing on topics ranging from Strategy and Entrepreneurship to Artist Management, Record Label Operations, and Philosophy. His global performance experience spans major festivals and venues, from Dallas to Djibouti and Biloxi to Bahrain, France to French Lick, Germantown to Germany, Kansas City to Kuwait, and Indianapolis to Iraq; McKinney has toured the globe.

As a philosopher, author, academic, recording artist, and singer-songwriter, Dr. McKinney’s intellectual and creative influence extends far beyond his humble beginnings in small-town Indiana, where he grew up across from a cornfield.
