Jay has worked in education since 2003, and in film production since 2006 on projects distributed by Nickelodeon, BET, NBA2K, Cartoon Network, and other platforms. He's worked professionally as a producer, director, writer, 1st Assistant Director, editor, in casting, or in special effects on numerous feature films, shows, commercials, music videos, and corporate content. He also consulted for multiple feature projects and shows in development at major studios including Netflix, AMC, Marvel, and for A-list talent behind and in front of the camera. As a writer, director, or producer, his short films screened at the Short Corner of Cannes, Youth Film Fest Beijing, Lift-Off Tokyo, Near Nazareth Fest, Washington DC Deaf Film Fest, and more.
He is passionately committed to ensuring parity in media access and has taught in My Brother's Keeper program, Inner-City Filmmakers Workshop, Creative Visions Foundation's Youth Excel Program, and The Hollywood Reporter’s Young Executives Fellowship – a collaborative with USC, WME, Amazon Prime Studios, E-One, Big Brothers / Big Sisters of America, and others.
After 16 years in Los Angeles, Jay returned to Tennessee in 2022 to be near family and teach filmmaking at Belmont University, one of Variety Magazine's Top 20 Film Schools.
