Biography
After graduation from Belmont’s Massey School of Business in 2005, Michael Sloane made a career as an executive leader and digital strategist in emerging technologies in the music industry. Through good fortune and timely career moves, he has found a knack for increasing artist revenues, while building loyal fanbases in the ever changing digital space.
As a digital strategist, he has worked with Entertainment brands, Small Businesses, Startups, and Corporate accounts, building successful and profitable relationships.
With experience dating back to 2005, he worked at Echomusic (later acquired by Ticketmaster) and later Live Nation Artists, where he saw the digital revolution unfold for artists such as The Rolling Stones, Kanye West, John Mayer, Zac Brown Band, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, and Brooks & Dunn. Building fan club websites, online marketing campaigns, and shifting from physical to digital fan experiences.
Sloane later focused on digital strategy and e-commerce optimization with Taylor Swift (13 Management) followed by a stint as Director of Interactive for Big Machine Label Group (Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett, etc.)
Entering the streaming era of music, Sloane then built Streaming Promotions to help build artist streaming revenues for artists. Symphonic Distribution later acquired Streaming Promotions in 2022.
Throughout this journey Belmont was never far away, beginning as an adjunct in 2012, Sloane worked to build out curriculum around technology and the data it provides.
In January 2023 he made the transition from adjunct to full time faculty teaching in trending technologies and data and analytics.
