Biography
A 40-year veteran of the Nashville audio industry, Mike has worked in virtually every aspect of the business -- encompassing regional sales, administration, product management and technical support. He previously held positions as Chief Engineer at two prominent Nashville recording studios. During an especially entrepreneurial 10-year period he co-owned a company with his business partner and designed, manufactured, and sold, antenna distribution systems for 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz professional wireless intercoms for entertainment and industry. In the process they obtained 2 FCC certification for these systems. Customers included Cirque du Soleil, SpaceX, Volvo, Good Morning America, Disney, NBC, and the NFL.
For the past 8 years, he has served as Facilities Manager at 34 Music Square East for the Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music at Belmont University. This locale houses the historic Columbia Studio A and Quonset Hut -- home to smash hits too numerous to name -- where he oversees all aspects of building and studio maintenance, bookings, class schedules, and tours for prospective student and their families. Additionally, he has taught studio maintenance courses at two local colleges and at his alma mater, Belmont University.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Belmont University and was a member of the first graduating class of the newly established Music Business program in 1976. He is heavily involved with the Nashville Section of the Audio Engineering Society and has served as the section chair 6 times and 1 term as the Central US region Vice-President.
