Sara Gibson
Academic Advisor & Bruin Vets Advisor
Interdisciplinary Studies & Global Education, Adult Degree Program
Biography
Sara Gibson is an academic advisor for the Adult Degree Programs, a member of Belmont’s Veteran Success Team and the staff advisor for the Bruin Vets student organization. In those roles, she works closely with a wide variety of students to provide the support they need to be successful and help them reach their educational goals.
Having returned to school as an adult to complete a Bachelor of Business Administration in Music Business and a Master of Business Administration at Belmont University, Sara understands how difficult it can be to juggle family, work and life while attending class. She is an academic advisor to more than 50 adult students in the Liberal Studies and Music Business majors, leads the Adult Student Orientation each semester and manages WELL Core for adult students through the portfolio process.
As the daughter of an Air Force veteran and the mother of a Marine Corps veteran, Sara is also honored to assist student veterans as they transition from the military to pursuing a degree at Belmont. She is an academic and student services point of contact for veterans and military-affiliated students, plans and hosts veteran-specific events, helps run the Bruin Vets Center and is the official advisor for the Bruin Vets student organization. Sara is also a member of the Student Veterans of America and is the Belmont liaison to the Middle Tennessee Military Affairs Council.
Sara plays the fiddle, guitar and is a singer/songwriter. She grew up playing in fiddle contests and local music shows with her father, and she spent several years traveling the country as the fiddle and rhythm guitar player/vocalist in several bands before coming to Belmont as a Music Business student in 1999.
